In designing your dining room, one of the most important details you need to take care of is color. It’s not wise to think that your favorite hue is the one that will work in this room. When choosing a color, you have to take into account how the hues will work against lighting. Reds and oranges will create a more formal ambiance while yellows and greens are viewed as more casual. Neutral shades may also work to create a formal atmosphere and a calming effect so they usually make better choices. Remember that color is said to have an effect on appetite and the general pleasure derived from the dining experience. Make sure you choose your colors well.
Table linens will, of course, have to go along your chosen palette. Getting matching colors to work is easier than contrasting ones. Don’t overdo the matching, though, as too much of it can saturate the whole look and create an unattractive effect. In this case, contrasts may look better.
For the dining area, it’s great to have dimmers because they usually create a more dramatic ambiance. The effect is also warmer. On top of this, you can complement your dimmers with candles on the table which always work if you’re looking to create a romantic setting for special dinners.

Planting benches serve as a perfect way to tie in your love of gardening with the rest of your patio furniture. These benches are very unique in the fact that they allow you to have a healthy, growing plant on your patio without the problems of clean-up and placement on your patio. For all the purposes it serves, why not enjoy the splendor of a potted plant while not having to worry about it getting knocked over by animal or friend?
The first step is to assess all of the items you will need to build your very own planter bench. In the simplest forms, a bench can be built with nothing more than lumber in the right proportions, some wood glue, a drill, and some wood screws. In more complex forms, a bench can take on much more complex plans, such as lattice (for upward growing vines – tomatoes anyone?). Many of the benches you can buy online come unassembled, allowing you to put them together in your own time, in your own way, without having to purchase or plan different aspects of your bench.

Location. As with all real estate, this factor is huge. You don’t have to get involved in feng shui or hire a guru, just imagine where in your room your bed will be most appealing. Leave an unobstructed view of the windows, so you can wake up to the sights and sounds of nature. Also, keeping your bed as far away as possible from the door will keep external noises away. Your bed is your sanctuary; make its space holy ground.
Size. If you are moving in with a spouse for the first time, try and come to terms on the size of the bed. Remember that arms and limbs are not insignificant. Although you may feel a little silly doing it, try out your bed in the furniture store. Stretch out and see how it feels. Don’t think too big, however: you don’t want to sacrifice intimacy while feeling like a king and queen.
The mattress. Perhaps no other piece of home furniture has such a big impact on your life as your bed’s mattress. Go through all the options: it’s worth it. Pillow-top and double-pillow top are extremely luxurious, but will they give you enough support? If you prefer a great deal of support, look into the micro-fiber materials that marry amazing comfort with form-holding resistance. Remember, the box spring or mattress foundation is the final point of shock absorption, so consider it a vital organ in your bed’s system.

The first and most important step when it comes to selecting furniture is to make certain all of the items you decide to purchase will fit comfortably in the available space. If you buy a large sofa and arm chairs for a fairly small living room, you may find that all of the pieces either don’t fit or fit but make the room look very full. While you certainly can fill up your lounge by packing as much furniture into it as possible, this makes the room look smaller and gives it a cramped feeling. If you have a large family or a small living room and need the storage or seating, you may have to accept that it will look cramped.
Once you’ve measured your living room and know how much space you’ve got to work with, it’s time to decide what pieces of living room furniture you want to purchase. Most people go with a sofa and a few chairs, but you don’t have to. A large sofa (big enough to seat three people comfortably) is often the centerpiece of the living room. It’s great for company and can provide a nice place for a nap. However, you can always replace it with armchairs if you prefer. You can also get a corner sofa arrangement or more flexible seating as an alternative. It all depends on what you like, what fits your needs and the available space.
